Satin Iridescent (Stretch) Plates & Handled Trays
| Imperial Glass Company made a large number of plates, but the 7 1/2" to 8" #645 is the most commonly found. This plate comes in all the normal Satin Iridescent colors as well as ruby. There can be considerable variation among pieces that were given the same doping, and the heat sensitive ruby can range from a light amberina to a deep, oxblood red. Other plates with wide panels include those made from the #646/648 bowls, #656 line bowls (four potential sizes), and rarely the #693/694/695 bowls. ALL have snap maries which separates them from similar U.S. Glass plates that have ground maries (bases). A 6-inch and 8-inch plate can be found that is made from the #600 (="Chesterfield" of carnival collectors). These plates have external flutes, not optic panels. Plates with optic rays include the #499 (sherbet under-plate, 6-inch), #805 (8-inch salad), and #808 (12-inch salad bowl under-plate). Swirl optic (#313) plates are very difficult to find with the stretch effect, but the mayonnaise under-plate (6 3/4-inch) is obtainable in Iris Ice and Blue Ice. Plates were also made in the #725 (octagon handled pieces), #727 (octagon, no handle), & #728 (octagon, footed) lines. Plates in the Imperial Art Glass Line are covered in that section. |

Imperial Glass Company made two main types of handled trays (servers), a shovel-handled one (#664 - sandwich tray & #6641 - fruit bowl) and a heart handled one (#725 - sandwich tray & #7251 - fruit bowl). The 664 trays are usually in Iris Ice, Blue Ice (smoke) or Rose Ice (marigold). The 725 trays are usually seen in Iris Ice and Blue Ice, though a couple of examples have been seen in the smoke on pink treatment. Many of the 664 trays were cut with various designs. Some of these designs have been identified, but others await discovery.
