Satin Iridescent (Stretch)
Candleholders
Imperial Glass Company made very few candleholders with the stretch effect. While they made numerous candleholders, many of which are pictured and listed in their catalogs under the "Bright iridescent colors" (= carnival), only a limited number of pieces have been observed in the illustrations for their "Satin iridescent colors" (= stretch).
The #6007 & #6009 candleholders are 7" and 9" tall respectively and, from the numbers, should technically be placed in the "Chesterfield" (#600) line. These candleholders are placed with several "wide panel" style bowls in console sets in the illustrations. The #6007 are very difficult to find with a true stretch effect, most are obviously marigold. The #6009 sticks are fairly obtainable in Green Ice, Iris Ice, Blue Ice and ruby.
The #320 candleholders (= "double scroll") are also known in Green Ice, Blue Ice, ruby and Iris Ice. Marigold sets are known, but it is difficult to determine if they are Rose Ice (stretch) or Rubigold/Peacock (carnival) because none demonstrate characteristic stretch or satiny effects. The catalog pages also illustrate a short #320 candleholder, but none of these have been found in stretch colors.
The #727 candleholders are some of the most difficult to find and all that have been seen have been smoke on pink in color.
The #635 8 1/2-inch candleholder (= "premium" of carnival collectors) is commonly seen in Imperial's carnival illustrations, but a few have satiny overtones. The #635/3 candleholders are obviously the #635 ones in which a spiral optic pattern has been impressed into the bases.
The candleholder bowl is rather difficult to find and we still don't know the number of this piece. It has been determined to be Imperial's because of the colors found (especially the Blue Ice - smoke). Carnival collectors have dubbed this one the "two-handled candlestick server."
