Compotes & Sherbets
Imperial Glass Company made a large number of sherbets (often with under-plates) and compotes (which they list as "comports" in their catalog pages. Many of the pieces are also listed as "footed bowls" though it is obvious that they are what we would call compotes today.
The greatest number of stemmed pieces belong to the #600 line (="Chesterfield" of carnival). This group includes a 3 1/2" sherbet and 4" ice cream to true compotes and footed bowls that can be 7" to 8" tall and 8" to 11" wide (bowls). These pieces are usually found in Iris Ice and Blue Ice, but ruby and Green Ice pieces are obtainable. To confuse things, Imperial made much of this #600 line in its "Bright iridescent" (= carnival) as well as its "Satin iridescent" (= stretch) effects! The ones with the stretch effect are very obviously different from the ones that have plain, shiny iridescent effects.
